Apple confirms some iPhone 5s have defective battery

    -

iPhone 5s whiteIf your iPhone 5s’s battery is taking longer to charge or is draining very quickly, you might get a call from Apple. Apple has admitted that some iPhone 5s have a battery issue where the battery takes longer to charge or its life is not that good. Apple has said that this issue was caused when the phone was being manufactured and only affects a small amount of iPhone 5s owners. The company will contact those affected by this issue to have their phone replaced for free.

    From the NYT:

We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life,” said Teresa Brewer, an Apple spokeswoman. “We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone.

Although no amount of defective devices were given, the New York Times reports that the issue affects thousands of iPhone 5s owners.
