Starting tomorrow January 6th, 2015, you will be able to buy a fully unlocked contract-free iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus directly from Apple themselves if you’re in the United States, according to a new report from 9to5Mac. As the site reports, unlocked SIM-free iPhone 6 will be available for purchase at any retail Apple Store or by ordering it online from Apple.com
Currently in the US, you can only buy an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus via a carrier such as AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint or unlocked through T-Mobile. Those option require a contract with those carriers who will subsidize the phone for you. Starting tomorrow, you will be able to buy the phone from Apple without any carrier involvements at a full price.
Depending on your chosen storage and screen size, the phone will start at $649 up to $949. This device will work on any carrier internationally or domestically in the US – as long as the carrier accept GSM devices or non-branded CDMA devices.
