Firefox 9 Can Now Be Downloaded, Makes JavaScript Sites Load Faster and OS X Lion’s Two Finger Swipe

Mozilla already has its next number to keep Firefox up with Firefox 9. The final version of Firefox 9 can be downloaded right now, although it will be officially available tomorrow — they’re both the exact same versions. Firefox 9 brings a major performance boost in loading sites that use JavaScript heavily such as Twitter and Facebook; Firefox 9 now loads JavaScript 30% faster than the previous version. On the Firefox 9 Mac OS X Lion’s version, it now adds support for two finger swipe navigation. Mozilla also says this update ‘improves standards support for HTML5, MathML, and CSS.’

    Here’s the full change-log for Firefox 9:

    •  Added Type Inference, significantly improving JavaScript performance
    •  Improved theme integration for Mac OS X Lion
    •  Added two finger swipe navigation for Mac OS X Lion
    • Added support for querying Do Not Track status via JavaScript
    •  Added support for font-stretch
    •  Improved support for text-overflow
    •  Improved standards support for HTML5, MathML, and CSS
    •  Fixed several stability issues

Download Firefox 9 right now for: Windows PCMac / Linux.
