The rumor that Samsung’s next Galaxy phone, the Galaxy S 5, will have an eye scanner to unlock the phone have been put the rest. New report from The Korea Herald suggest that Samsung will follow Apple iPhone 5s by using fingerprint sensor in their device. Samsung initially planned to incorporate eye scanning technology through Iris on the Galaxy S5 but that idea has been replaced with fingerprint sensor, a unnamed source tell The Korea Herald.
According to the source, eye scanning technology was ditched because it’s too inconvenient for the users. “Who would want to put their handset up close to their eyes for authentication in places like movie theaters and bed, or even while they are driving?, the source says. Unlike what Apple did with the iPhone 5s by putting the fingerprint sensor in a button, Samsung will incorporate the sensor under the screen, allowing users to scan their fingers in the screen.
