Last month at CES Steve Ballmer announced that Kinect for Windows PCs would launch today, February 1st. Today as promised by Ballmer, Microsoft announced that Kinect for Windows is now being distributed in 12 different countries by their partners. Microsoft also released Kinect SDK  and runtime version 1.o. Kinect for Windows will be available for $249 — almost twice the price of kinect for Xbox 350 —  and later will  be available for $149 to Qualified Educational Users.
