In response to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Samsung announced two devices during its 2015 Mobile World Congress press conference in Barcelona: the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.
These two devices have different body designs, but they sport similar specs. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were when Samsung began creating hardware with quality materials and design, making it harder for Apple fanboys to mock them for using cheap plastic in their flagship devices.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were announced on March 2, 2015. They were officially released on April 10, 2015, in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage capacity.

With a similar design to the iPhone 6, the Galaxy S6 is the best iPhone-inspired phone Samsung has created in a long time. Samsung has finally created a smartphone with a premium look. This is because the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were created from metal and glass.
The Galaxy S6 is powered by Samsung’s 64-bit processor, the Exynos 7420. The device runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with 3 GB of RAM. As for storage, without extending the storage with a microSD card, the Galaxy S6 is available in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. The rear camera has been upgraded to 16 MP with optical image stabilization, while the front is a 5-megapixel camera. The phone sports a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display.
Renovating the fingerprint sensor, Samsung added it to the home button, no longer requiring users to swipe to unlock their device. A non-removable 2550mAh battery with Qi and PMA wireless charging support powers this device. Users cannot no longer replace their batteries.

To bring something completely new to the smartphone industry besides bumping up specs from the previous models, Samsung also announced another version of the Galaxy S6: the Galaxy S6 Edge.
The Galaxy S6 Edge features a screen that curves around the device. Besides its design, the Galaxy S6 Edge has similar specs to the Galaxy S6. It features a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen; an octa-core Samsung Exynos processor; 16 and 5 MP cameras; 3GB of RAM; fingerprint sensor; NFC and wireless charging.
Another difference is the battery; while the Galaxy S6 has a 2550 mAH battery, the S6 Edge is powered by a 2600 mAH battery. Like the Galaxy S6, users cannot upgrade external storage or replace the battery.
Galaxy S6 & S6 edge problems and criticisms
As I stated above, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were major improvements from Samsung’s previous phones. Samasung stepped their game up in term of desgin and built quality. But even with that said, both devices reiccieved major ciritisicism from their fans and Android the comunnuity. This was because Samsung was slowly turning the Galaxy S brand into an iPhone little by little.
These are a few of the main criticisms Samsung received from the Android community with the Galaxy S6 and dS6 Edge:
- No more removable batteries.
- Samsung removed the micoSD card slot.
- Both phones were no longer water and dust-resistant like the previous Galaxy S5.
- No fm radio.
