Opera Mini 8 for iPhone, iPad to massively reduce data usage

    Opera Mini 8 iPhone

The Opera Mini browser for iPhone and iPad has not been updated ever since it got updated for iOS 6 on 2012. The current version on the App Store looks outdated and is has not been updated for iOS 7. But if you use the Opera Mini browser in your iPhone or iPad, you’ll receive an update soon. Opera will release Opera Mini 8 for iPhone and iPad this summer, according to the Wall Street Journal. The app will not only receive a new user interface, but will also come with new features and changes. The Opera Mini browser greatly reduces data usage and increases the loading speed for webpages. Opera accomplishes this by compressing websites on its servers by up to 90% before sending the websites back to your device.

Opera Mini 8 will have a “turbo” mode which removes less elements from web pages while displaying more content with higher resolution images. If you choose the “Opera Mini” option, the browser will massively compress the page, displaying lower resolution images and removing many elements from web pages. You’ll also have the option to turn compression off, displaying the website without compressing any elements at all like a normal browser.

Edit: Opera Mini 8 has been released. You can download it from the App Store for free.
